What a month this is turning out to be:
Sophie turned 10 months yesterday
Kara turned 2 1/2 yrs today
And I am scheduled to turn 37 next week
I've been saying that I'm 37 for the last 12 months anyway (math has never been my strong point). I forgot it was my birthday until a friend reminded me (and then I in turn reminded Lance ... you know, so he can surprise me with a huge gift or something!!).
Oh, and I start my new job next week. I feel as though I have already started, having received over 50 work emails already. Monday starts with orientation (groan) and then a briefing with my boss, the Chief of Police. Tuesday is the press conference (double groan) and Wednesday is a full day 'Police Chief's Board of Directors' meeting (triple groan). The fun part is that I get "flown in" to this meeting with the Chief - the down side is that the day starts and ends at 6am and 6pm, respectively (so much for spending more time with the family!). I anticipated the first week to be a tad crazy and will start emphasizing my "40 hour ONLY workweek" ASAP.
On an incredibly exciting note (and this will only mean something if you have spent a sunny day in Seattle), we have a full, unobstructed view of Mt. Ranier from our family room and deck! This is unbelievable! I can't believe they never mentioned this in the house's description - just as well they didn't or we may have had some stiff competition. Lance summitted Mt. Ranier when we lived here so he is over the moon about being able to sit on his deck with a beer, gazing at his mountain.
More on the house (and hopefully some photos) soon. Our furniture and stuff arrives tomorrow and we haven't set up internet access yet at the new home ... so I may not post for several days.
