... v. convenience

I've subsequently learned the convenience of "our" imaginary friend.

E.g. 1
Mummy: Time to clean up the play room Kara.
Kara: Don't ask me ... ask Kara (pointing to the space next to her).

E.g. 2
Mummy: Where is the night-lite sweetie?
Kara: I don't know.
Mummy: I'm sure I just put it down here.
Kara: I don't know
Mummy: Kara ... did you put it somewhere?
Kara: "I" didn't put it anywhere.
Mummy: (Hmmm) "You" didn't put it anywhere?
Kara: No I didn't, but Kara hid it over there (giggle, giggle)

You can use it to your advantage as well. I do it all the time with Ola-baby. "Esther, ola-baby told Mommy that she wants to go inside the house now because she's very hot in the 96 degree weather." I suspect that the Imaginary Kara (or IK for short) could potentially turn into quite the motivator!
