OK, another easy post before slightly more thoughtful posts start tomorrow (maybe).
The girls still want to be princess-like for Halloween so they were both Fairies. Got to admit that
having them pick out their costumes from their dress-up box is the level of Halloween involvement I can get enthusiastic about!
Our tradition of post-tricking dinner with the neighbor kids and adults continued. It allows the
kids to pre fill their tummies and the adults to pre fill their glasses before we all toddle off into the darkness.
By the time Trick or Treating rolled around, Sophie was already tired and decided to adjust her plans and transform into a Baby Fairy (meaning she got into her warm, fuzzy, footed
PJ's and put a pink dress on top). By the time we had walked a few blocks I was carrying her wand, her wings and eventually her. It seems the kid has stamina for everything BUT Halloween.
So remember the guy that deliberately, and quite cowardly, scared Sophie last year? (One day I will learn how to link to a previous post!). Sophie could sense that house a half block away and
demanded we skip it. Totally fine by me. Alas, Kara had raced ahead with Lance and blindly followed her travel buddies (who were 8-10 y.o.) inside the haunted garage. Predictably, she was petrified when a ghastly face popped up, tried to find her way out, tore her wings on something inside and the tears were rolling down her face. I thought her night was over but finally it was Sophie that took her by the hand and led her up to a “nice house”.
So while this guy obviously puts in some effort for Halloween, and no doubt impresses the local
teenagers (of which we have next to zero), other parents have been perturbed by his mannerisms and behavior over the years. Scaring older kids who want to be scared is one thing, but he seems to delight in targeting kids in the 3-6 year age bracket.

They incoporated Halloween into their math, reading, choice time, etc, then had a Halloween party before home time. That's taking this event seriously!

very smart of them to wear their pijamas underneath
So cute! Cannot beleive how grown up Kara is!
I was going to say exactly the same thing as AwwwTrouble. Kara looks like such a big kid!
Is that party at your house? The table looks so similar to mine; I was confused when I saw the photo at first.
We had an older neighbor this year also in a fabulous costume for teens but horrifying for the little ones. I had to keep saying "show them your face, show them your face - they are 1 and 3!"
