The good and the bad

I'll start with the good. Kara, Sophie and I got to meet baby Mia today! Mia is Zoe's shiny new baby sister, all of 8 days old. Very, very cute indeed.

Now the bad. Lance didn't join us this morning as just before we left we realized we had been robbed. Not the house, but our backyard shed. They broke through the 9-ft high steel gate and the wooden gate, then picked the shed lock. Determined!

We typically have 6 bikes in there, but luckily Lance had taken 4 of them to be boxed up for shipping. Unfortunately, it was his 2 most expensive bikes, and naturally his favorites, that were stolen. Retail value of $8000 right there! Bikes are hot items in Capitol Hill - the maddening thing is that they will probably sell the bikes on the street for a mere $100. His work tools were taken as well which is a pain. Thankfully our snowboards etc weren't taken ... imagine turning up to Seattle with the snow they've had without snowboards. (And oddly enough, they didn't take the diaper champ!).

So just when we thought we were on top of moving, paperwork and house stuff we now have this to deal with.

I'm so sorry to hear about the break in. I think Value Village might sell tools!
