Hey Laurie - I finally made that Hello Kitty cake for Kara's birthday (sure, it was meant to be for Sophie's birthday in May, but hey). This Kitty didn't have fluffy fur fosting like yours but it did the trick and turned out to be super easy. I just cut the shape out with a big ol' knife and voila.
Oh but I didn't stop there ... I decided to make Hello Kitty cake pops too. 30 of them. Never again. But they were kinda cute!

Sophie wants a butterfly cake for her next birthday (easy peasy!) but I think I'll pass on the butterfly cake pops.
