I've never cooked a Turkey

Had to work again so I still haven't caught up on other blogs.

I could go read them now, but if I don't start planning my Thanksgiving menu then everyone might go hungry. Lance has offered to go food shopping for me tomorrow so I do not want to forget to put anything on that list!

While I cook quite a bit, and different cuisines from all over, I have yet to cook a Turkey. Heck, I have never even roasted a whole chicken before. Roast lamb, pork and beef ... but never the poultry. So our Thanksgivings are a little non-traditional. Lots of good food but not the real McCoy. Easy to get away with when you're an expat.

But we are hosting for others this year so a little more thought needs to go into the planning ... needless to say Lance's "tofurky with pineapple" may not make the cut!

Oh, then there's the pie dilemna. Apparently, Kara does not particularly care for my apple pie! This, from a girl who eats almost anything. I LOVE my apple pie ... as does Sophie & Lance. I've made it the last 3-4 years I think. So we decided it had to be a pie we all liked ... none of us like pumpkin or pecan, we are split on cherry, so it might be peach or blackberry.

Kara's all excited - she's making extra placecard names for our guests, thinking of potential table arrangements, practising carrying trays of drinks and food, and rehearsing what she is thankful for (her 'bed' rates a mention!?).

Well, I'm definitely thankful for MY bed - that's for darn sure.

Sounds like it's going to be a great time! Remember the Thanksgiving we did together years back?
