Dashed hopes

After washing what seemed like the whole house and contents last night, things looked up this morning. I combed Kara's hair for literally 1 hour and no lice were seen! Nits yes, but no creepy crawlies. I declared success.

But because Kara was actually enjoying me combing her hair (most likely because she was allowed to watch movies and eat M&M's for the duration), I decided to keep brushing for another couple of minutes. And you wouldn't believe it - after finding nothing for an entire hour, I found one live little moving creature. Ahhhh ... and so I then proceeded to re-wash all the bedding, pillows, stuffed toys yet again!!

So another round of treatment occurred (I think you are meant to wait for a day or two between treatments, but it's non-toxic and it's not clear when and how often you should treat, so I figured it can't hurt). I think I have literally spent over 3 hours today treating and combing/brushing Kara's hair!

**************
On a more happy note, Sophie hasn't had a pee-pee accident at all today (!!!) but did have one poopy accident. She doesn't yet take herself off to the potty, but at least she doesn't resist too much when we put her on anymore. So things are looking up here at last.

Note: the amount of M&M's that my girls have been eating of late as incentives to go to the potty or to sit still during hair treatment is crazy!

I am so sorry. This just sucks. I wanted to mention that there are professional nit-pickers who come to your house and get every last one of the those little suckers. It might be worth the investment. What a nightmare.

You have got to be kidding - they must cost an absolute fortune - I would never nit-pick a complete strangers child (especially one with such long, thick hair!!).

Oddly enough, after getting the gunk into Kara's hair, spending 1-2 hours combing it through Kara's hair has been quite cathartic! She sits there babbling away non-stop and seems to enjoy me just brushing her hair and sitting there with her for this length of time.

It would be sweet(and a little weird) if this is one of her best and favorite memories growing up!
