It is all because we are frantically trying to potty train Sophie that I am looking back.
I am desparately wanting Sophie to go to the same Montessori school as Kara - partly because I think it would be developmentally good for Sophie; partly because Sophie desparately wants to go to the same school as Kara; but (mostly) because I don't feel like I can handle even a little bit more stress and dropping off and picking up the girls in 2 different places for too much longer might just put me over the edge!
(OK, just a tad dramatic).
But of course, Sophie needs to be potty trained before she can start. The school director has said that Sophie can start in December ... or wait until next May to start school. Continuing with my dramatic theme here ... I might have gone completely mad by then! So the pressure is on. And of course it isn't working!
Looking back, we had it so easy with Kara. Lance was home with her for 4 days straight and that was that. Mission accomplished. But Sophie ... our little resident "my way or the highway" ... is taking her sweat little time and thinks the whole thing is quite hilarious. (Do they HAVE to be so different in EVERY way!!). It will work for a couple of hours, then no amount of coercing or cajoling works! We've even resorted to M&M's if she goes - but this is even hit or miss.
What is making it extra hard (and hence working against us) is that we do our best over the weekends and while she is at home, but then her daycare provider is not willing to assist us in this process (she looks after 4-5 kids under 3, but still!). And it's not as if we are willing to find another provider to bridge the gap between her current situation and school.
So 2 weeks to go little Sophie! P L E A S E !!!!!

you haven't changed a lot!
You need to go all out over Thanksgiving. Can you take Wednesday off so you'll have five days at home with Sophie ? Don't make any plans, don't go anywhere and let her run around with no underpants on - just thin pajama pants. There's a book called potty train in 3 days or something like that.
I agree with Ellen. Go cold turkey over Thanksgiving and have a lot of paper towels on hand. I feel your pain and wish you lots of luck!
