I was minding my own business upstairs - the girls were painting and playing with trains downstairs. Sophie starts to REALLY cry. I'll admit that I did roll my eyes before putting down my coffee and my book (serves me right for thinking I was entitled to read a book in the middle of the morning). I started to go downstairs and was greeted by Kara half way up. "Sophie has a train stuck in her hair, mummy!" And indeed, there was Sophie sitting with her hand holding the battery-operated train right at her scalp. Tears pouring down her little chubby cheeks. I know I should have tried to get the train out first, but she looked so adorable with huge tears rolling down that I decided to just hug her for a while.
I worked on unwinding her hair from where the strands were closely wound around the wheels ... I knew it was futile but I apparently have something against cutting my girl's hair under any and all circumstances.
After 5 minutes of pointless pulling, teasing and unwinding I finally resorted to saying something I thought I would never say ... "Kara sweetie, can you go and get the scissors?". The reply: "The sharp ones mummy? But I thought I wasn't allowed to touch the sharp ones!".
Kara came back with the scissors, a cloth to wipe Sophie's tears, Sophie's teddy bear, and a pretend lolly-pop to make Sophie feel better!
