The Big O

The FIRST thing out of Kara's mouth this morning:

Kara: You know what mummy? (Kara's most frequent question)
Mummy: What is it sweetie?
Kara: It's Barwack Obama Day.

Unprovoked, I swear! And I haven't even mentioned him to her for over a week.

I have to say that Obama Day has been sensational. Kara was the first to wake up ... at a very respectable 6:45 am!!! ... then we got to play bed pirates until Sophie woke up ... at 7:10 am!!! Heavenly start to the day.

We then got to play pirates in the local cemetery with Auntie Chris & M & Koko (the dog). And Kara even patted a little dog on the way there (she said she wasn't scared of the dog as she had gloves on). The only blip was that Sophie didn't nap at all - she had walked to the cemetery and then the full way around; I had to carry her the 2 blocks home so I think she was overly tired and I didn't get her into bed when I should have. But true to form, Sophie didn't skip a beat and I was able to play with just her for 2 hours as Kara slept.

Kara has been an absolute treat this weekend. Come to think of it, she hardly even whined at all this week - seriously! (The best thing we ever did was not allow her to go to gym that day 2 weeks ago as she has been a pure delight ever since. Incredibly so!).

AND, Jason read them their night-time books ... so I was able to start a glass of wine. Now it's 7:20pm and I have already prepared the girl's snacks and lunch for tomorrow ... so I get to play, play, play until Lance gets home!

PS: I am going to semi-cheat for tomorrow's blog. I am writing it now and will hopefully remember to post it first thing tomorrow morning since I'll be in the middle of nowhere for a conference and won't be able to blog.
