Bits 'n pieces

So the girls were playing in the bathroom sink today. If there is one absolutely bizarre quirk I have it is my reaction to water being dripped - dripped on the floor, bench, table, my face, wherever ... by accident, deliberate, whatever. Makes my skin crawl and I go into some kind of semi-panic mode (seriously!). Anyway, Kara had made the sink full of water as soapy as she could. There were a few trips to the adjacent playroom by both girls as toy cars and legos made their trek into the sink. After a minute or so I heard the first series of soapy drips onto the floor. I kept repeating to myself "it's just water; it's in the bathroom; just finish your coffee in peace; it's just water; it's in the bathroom; just finish your coffee in peace". Sophie was the first to dip a face washer into the soap mix and throw it onto the floor. The laughter that this evoked from Sophie was so incredible that I actually found myself smiling. Of course Kara had to join in which meant that there was soon water and soap everywhere. Kara then decided she would clean the entire bathroom bench with a gallon of soapy water, while Sophie cleaned the floor with the same. And of course no face washer or towel was spared in this "cleaning" frenzy. I was still on edge about the whole thing but was honestly too lazy to get off the couch - and I had to laugh when Kara poked her head out midway to announce "we are making such a wonderful mess mummy!".

Brief (belated) update on Kara's school. "X" has left and so the bullying has completely stopped. Kara is again wonderfully happy at school and her behaviour has returned to normal. She has stopped using the words and phrases that "X" used and is (mostly) a pleasure to be around again. Yeah!

Unfortunately, Kara's best friend "D" at school was asked to leave too! We had no idea until the parent-teacher day. We don't know the details, only that "inappropriate language" was mentioned. It wasn't curse words so who knows. I liked "D" a lot - she had a lot of character and spunk for a 4 year old, so we might arrange a playdate so Kara can see her again. Now Kara's best friend at school is Lily (I'm not sure if it was sad or funny how quickly Kara had adopted a new best friend). Now Kara and Lily are inseperable. Kara used to always want me to pick her up first so she could come with me to pick up Sophie - now if I try to pick Kara up first, Lily always pleads for me to let Kara play with her "for one more minute" and Kara asks me to go pick up Sophie first then come back for her. (And when I come back Lily again approaches me with the "can Kara play with me for one more minute?").

I love that you were repeating your mantra while the girls were playing in the water! Good for you for letting them have a go at it.
