A mindless post

Still feeling incredibly lethargic after eating some turkey yesterday. Of course, we always eat too much (Lance won this award hands-down by eating 9 macaroons AND key-lime pie) except for Sophie who ate just 1 mouthful each of the mac & cheese, strudel and turkey.

Yesterdays cooking feat made me realize that our kitchen sucks. We have limited counter space and in all the wrong spots. But it's the original kitchen so we always planned on renovating. The lack of a dishwasher also sucks, particularly when you create 100 extra dishes to store the leftovers. And I need a bunch more cooking implements - they have either got lost in the move (my beaters), or lost because the girls have relocated them somewhere (my pastry brush), or they just decided not to work anymore (my food processor). So I had to do all the beating and mixing by hand yesterday - which oddly enough I prefer to do sometimes, especially with baking.

Kara loved helping me with all the mixing - although there was cheese, mushrooms and coconut flying in all directions at times. The highlight for her was obviously helping with the macaroons, probably because I promised her she could also dribble chocolate over the top of them. (I will have to remember next time that toddlers prefer to blob thigns with chocolate as opposed to delicately lace them with chocolate).

But I sure missed having family here to share all the cooking, eating and drinking with (oh, and the cleaning up afterwards!!). Mum - you'll be proud of me for getting all dishes ready within about 5 minutes of each other again! Amazing how a bloody mary can actually help with co-ordination!
